Project Details
For the Malcolm X Bridge and Interchange Project Over I-295 in Washington, DC, FTG has provided a wide range of specialty testing services for the project construction of deep foundation systems and retaining wall construction. In areas with driven piling, FTG provided Wave Equation (WEAP) analysis for the driven pile systems pre-construction. FTG then inspected the driving of test piles, dynamic monitoring of the test piles and CAPWAP dynamic load test analysis to determine the capacity and pile freeze (setup ) associated with the driving and restrike operations. Once pile test data was obtained and analyzed, FTG made recommendations for pile driving criteria and monitored the driving of production piling.
FTG also inspected the installation of Auger Cast Stability piles up to depth of 100 ft. FTG monitored the grout takes during installation of these piles and performed Thermal Integrity Profiling (TIP Testing) on 30 piles to verify the installation techniques for QA/QC.
For retaining walls at the site FTG provided geotechnical instrumentation services of tiltmeters and optical survey monitoring, and tieback proof testing on wall anchorages.
