For heavily loaded structures, structures over soft/unsuitable soils or other special cases, deep foundation options may be required to provide long term stability. FTG teams with structural engineers to provide turnkey designs of deep foundation elements. We do this by applying foundation analysis design programs that become field tested, performance-based working solutions.
Value Engineering Redesign
Value engineering redesign is the art of taking a sound, practical design and enhancing it by utilizing a contractor’s skillset of experience, personnel and equipment. FTG is masterful in implementing this type of collaborative design. Most importantly, by understanding the needs of both owners and contractors, we gain insight on the preferred methods for a project. Mixed with a rigorous engineering analysis, followed by applied testing of the design, FTG’s engineers can present the most advantageous cost-effective design for the project. We have followed this recipe for client success on numerous projects. From infrastructure, power plant, commercial hi-rise buildings, diverse marine applications and industrial developments, our team positively leads our clients successfully to their desired solutions.

In deep foundation engineering, small design modifications can shave large costs from the overall project scope and more importantly trim valuable time from the already compressed construction schedule.
The key to ensuring that a quality foundation is installed, is the use of quality management and inspection techniques. Foundation Test Group has extensive practical experience in all facets of deep foundation inspection services. Inspection of deep foundation elements requires extensive training and exposure to all deep foundation types. FTG is the only engineering firm in the mid-Atlantic with its own Shaft Inspection Device (SID) for inspection of slurry or wet drilled shafts as well as other down hole camera capabilities.
FTG Engineers, Geologists and Technicians routinely inspect drilled shafts in dry and/or wet conditions, driven piles, auger cast piles, micropiles, hollow core anchors, helical anchors or ground modification systems. Our experience allows us to adapt to the unavoidable difficulties which are encountered during deep foundation installation. This adaptability allows us to adjust protocols to help ensure that the highest quality foundation is installed in the most economical and time efficient manner.
