Hovering through the Atlantic Coastal Plain region, FTG's drone services captured timber pile driving operations for a project in Southern Maryland.
As the Geotechnical Engineer of Record for the pile foundations, FTG provided installation driving criteria to support anticipated structural loads. Through the soft tidal marsh deposits of the coastal area, timber piles are suitable foundation options due to their ability to be driven into the dense stratum of the inter-bedded silts & clays mixed with sand. Staff Geologist Alex Bollinger was on site to verify that the initial test piles were properly installed and met the intended design bearing capacity.
With a coordinated effort from design to inspection, FTG was able to provide and confirm production pile installation procedures within the contractors means and methods.
